My failed first hike

Four weeks post-bariatric surgery, I set out on my first hike, determined to reach the beacon of the Malvern Hills. It was a hot and humid Sunday morning on June 18th, 2023, and I was still subsisting on just 400 calories a day, which left me feeling drained and not fully healed.

The trail challenged me, and I ultimately fell short of my goal, not reaching the beacon. Initially, I viewed this as a failure, but in reality, it was a remarkable success. I had ventured outside, breaking free from my cycle of self-pity, and this newfound sense of liberation ignited a fire within me. It inspired me to pursue challenges, fueling my journey towards recovery and personal growth.
